9 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Starting a Coaching Course

Coaching is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. What does this mean for you? It means that now more than ever, it’s important to think about what you want from your coaching experience before jumping head first into a course. What are some things to consider when thinking about starting a coaching course? Read on below to find out!

Why am I looking into taking an online coaching course?

The number one thing I recommend people do before they start any kind of training courses – whether that is self-development or something else entirely is being mindful of why they’re doing it at all. Ask yourself “why am I looking into taking an online coaching course?” Is there something specific driving you towards becoming a coach? Or are you simply interested in learning how to give personal development advice? What about the coaching course appeals to you? What are your goals for this pathway – and does it align with what the course offers?

What makes me happy?

Before you start a coaching course, it’s important to ask yourself what makes you happy. What are the things that make you feel alive and fulfilled? What do you love to do? When you’re doing something that brings you joy, you’ll be more likely to stick with it and see success.

One of my favourite questions I always recommend asking yourself before starting anything new is “what makes me happy?”. Knowing exactly why you’re taking a certain path will help give you clarity on whether or not that’s actually something worth pursuing. Taking an online coach training program might sound like just another thing to tick off your bucket list, but if there’s nothing specific driving you towards wanting to do it then take some time out to think things through properly. The last thing I would suggest considering when thinking about beginning a personal development coaching course is how much money it costs. Coaching can be one of those activities that you pour your heart and soul into, so it’s important to make sure the investment is worth it. What are you getting in return for the money you’ll be spending?

What am I good at?

It’s also important to consider what you’re good at. What comes easy for you? What are people drawn to your natural abilities? Once you know what these things are, you can begin thinking about how to use them in your coaching career.

What if I’m not good at coaching?

Even if you’re not sure if coaching is right for you, that’s okay. There are plenty of courses out there that can help you figure it out. Coaching isn’t one size fits all – find a course that feels like a good fit for you and go from there.

How much time do I have?

Before starting a coaching course, it’s important to consider how much time you have to dedicate to it. Coaching can be a very demanding profession, so make sure you’re ready for the commitment. If you’re not sure if you have enough time, ask yourself how important coaching is to you.

What’s my budget?

Coaching courses can range in price from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Make sure you know what your budget is and find a course that fits within your means.

What does this course offer?

When you’re looking at different coaching courses, it’s important to consider what the course offers. What are the topics covered? What kind of support is available? What are the qualifications of the instructors? Make sure you know what you’re signing up for before enrolling.

How will my life change if I become a coach?

Before starting a coaching course, ask yourself how becoming a coach might affect your life. Will your relationships with friends or family members change because of it? Sometimes having more money may not bring happiness – think about whether or not coaching truly lines up with where you want to go in life. If feeling alive & fulfilled through helping others sounds like something worth exploring, coaching might be the right path for you.

What can I expect?

Finally, be sure to consider what you’ll expect. What are the criteria for success in this course? Are there any exams involved? How much support is available when it comes to your coaching practice? When you’re looking at different courses, make sure that they meet your needs and expectations before you sign up!

These are all questions that should be asked before starting a personal development coaching course. Do you have any other questions that you think are important for people to consider when making this decision? Let us know in the comments below!
