Alice Hatcher Is Proof Resilience Matters

For Alice Hatcher, resilience is the name of the game. From a difficult childhood as an Asian American immigrant to a successful career as an entrepreneur and owner of multiple companies, Alice Hatcher has lived her life overcoming one obstacle after another.

Alice Hatcher is the owner of Essential Beauty Medical Spa in Orange County, California. In addition to her brick-and-mortar medical spa, Hatcher is the founder of the eCommerce site beauty-addict.com and the medical skincare brand Precision Skincare RX. Although she experiences great success now, it has not always been that way.

Hatcher was born in Taipei, Taiwan but quickly immigrated to the United States with her family. When the family arrived in the US, they had nothing. Not even an understanding of English. Despite this, Hatcher’s parents worked hard to make ends meet. The family shared a one-bedroom apartment while her mother worked as a night nurse and her father finished his degree at engineering school.

Growing up as an immigrant, Alice was bullied for being the only Asian American in her class. She experienced a large amount of hatred and racism from those around her growing up. After staying resilient through school, Hatcher began her journey into the world of skincare. She graduated with honors from the Paul Mitchell Skin Academy and even had the opportunity to train with popular dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi.

With all of her new experience and hard work, Hatcher opened up her first business in 2006, the Essential Beauty Medical Spa. The first few years of the business were going well until Hatcher faced her first big hurdle as a business owner, the economic crisis of a recession. Being as resilient as she is, Hatcher put in the work to ensure that her business stayed afloat in the turbulent economic climate. She took on multiple roles at the spa and even solicited customers in local parking lots until they came in to receive service. These kept her afloat long enough to see a new trend in the world of skincare, eCommerce.

Hatcher started her eCommerce site as a way to reach more customers and turn a profit amidst the recession. In the first year of online sales, Hatcher outsold her brick-and-mortar store. After ten years of eCommerce and running the medical spa, Hatcher climbed out of the debt caused by the recession and was now able to focus on her next venture, a skincare brand all her own.

In 2016, Hatcher founded Precision Skincare RX. Hatcher’s brand uses results-driven medical-grade ingredients to treat skin conditions of all types. Hatcher continues to run and grow all three of her businesses to this day.

Hatcher’s success can be largely attributed to her resilience. Even when the odds were stacked against her, she worked hard to meet her goals as an entrepreneur. Now, Hatcher hopes to use her business and her brand to promote positivity. Hatcher’s most important message is to ignore those who tell you that you can’t do something and do it anyway.
