Speaker McCarthy Brutalizes Reporter Who Whined About Schiff, Swalwell Getting Booted from Intel Committee

Published

on

By Dr. Derek Ellerman

I’m sincerely hoping that you’ll hear this a lot out of me: Credit where it’s due!

I don’t trust Kevin McCarthy any farther than I can throw him, which is only about 7-8 yards since I am freakishly strong, but it’s important to not just attack politicians when they’re wrong, but to praise them when they’re right.

For some reason, famed economist James Buchanan gets plaudits for his Public Choice Theory, which essentially states that, like all people, politicians also pursue their self-interest. Common sense to most people, but nevertheless, important and largely ignored on the right.

If you want politicians to do what you want, you need both the carrot and the stick. Those of us with a little more mental firepower recognize this as operant conditioning

At any rate, Speaker McCarthy deserves plaudits for not only giving Russiagate conspiracy theorists the boot from the House Intel Committee, but perhaps more importantly, for absolutely wrecking a goofball reporter who was trying to whine about it.

McCarthy Lets ‘Em Have It

Speaker McCarthy, thankfully, seems to have learned from the Trump playbook – which is to say, mainstream “journalists” are not reporters, but transparently stenographers for the DNC and Langley. They are not good-faith actors just looking out for the people.

Very, very much the opposite, I’m afraid.

To wit: in a showdown with a reporter, who of course tried to “whatabout” by asking about Republican George Santos, who appears to be even more impressive than Frank Abignale, Jr., McCarthy was asked:

“Because you have direct power over who goes on the Intelligence Committee, and you also … (unintelligible) you have saying lying to us is something that means you should be removed from the Intelligence Committee why is it not… (something unintelligible about George Santos…” the reporter mumbled.

You can see McCarthy just getting ready, answering that Santos was elected by his district, before getting cut off again.

That’s when the new Speaker jumped in: “Let me be very clear and respectful to you. You asked me a question. When I answer it, it’s the answer to your question. You don’t get to determine whether I answer your question or not, OK? In all respect. Thank you.”

Over the shouts of other reporters, McCarthy continued:

“No, no, let’s answer her question. You just raised a question, I’m going to be very clear with you. The Intel Committee is different. You know why? Because what happens in the Intel Committee, you don’t know. What happens in the Intel Committee, of the secrets that are going on in the world, other Members of Congress don’t know. What did Adam Schiff do as the Chairman of the Intel Committee? What Adam Schiff did was use his power as Chairman, and lied to the American public, even the Inspector General said it.”

He continued, “When (former Rep.) Devin Nunes put out a memo, he said it was false. When we had a laptop (Hunter Biden’s laptop), he used it before an election to be politics and say that it was false, and said it was the Russians, when he knew different. When he knew the intel.”

“When you talk to John Ratcliffe, DNI, he came out ahead of time and said there’s no intel to prove that. And he (Schiff) used his position as Chairman, knowing he has information the rest of America does not, and lied to the American public,” McCarthy pointed out.

It only gets better from there. McCarthy also raised other crucial points, but you’ll have to watch since The Political Insider is a small, independent outlet and they don’t have staff available for translations.

A New Day? New GOP?

Now as I mentioned earlier, McCarthy deserves praise for just nailing the fake news with both barrels. If you want him (and others) to continue this behavior, give them praise. Show them some positive reinforcement.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m a total cynic. I don’t believe for a second that McCarthy and his GOP are going to actually follow through on the more concrete promises. But that’s a time for another day.

On this day, I’m going to celebrate when a politician who isn’t named Donald Trump or Ron Paul actually does the right thing.

I suggest that you do the same. That is, if you want to see more of this.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.

Chris Wallace Has Worst Ratings Month Since Launch Of CNN Show

Published

on

Chris Wallace’s new CNN show is called Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? but they should change it to Who’s Watching Chris Wallace?

Of course, the answer to that question is, not many people.

Wallace just had his worst ratings month since the launch of his new CNN show. People are not tuning in.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Former Fox News host Chris Wallace sees worst ratings month since CNN move

Former Fox News anchor Chris Wallace’s prime-time CNN venture saw its worst ratings month since its launch.

In January, CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? averaged just 365,000 viewers. Only 48,000 of them were in the coveted 25- to 54-year-old demographic, according to Nielsen data.

On Sunday, the show’s last airing of January, it averaged 323,000 viewers and 38,000 in the 25-54 demographic.

There are amateur YouTubers who get vastly more viewers than Chris Wallace.

Since joining CNN, Wallace has really let his liberal colors fly. He is now a big fan of Nancy Pelosi, apparently.

From NewsBusters:

This came in the second half of the Wallace interview. He came out of commercial insisting “Whether you agree with her politics or not, there is no denying Nancy Pelosi has been one of the most effective politicians in Washington for the last two decades. I picked up our conversation asking the former speaker how she’s done it.”

You can tell that Alexandra Pelosi’s dearest-mommy documentary is clearly part of the Pelosi PR packet, as Alexander was featured heavily in the Maureen Dowd puff piece in Sunday’s New York Times. Wallace played a clip of Pelosi playing hardball with a Democrat as they passed “Obamacare” in 2010. Then Wallace played a clip of Pelosi talking in the documentary about never tiring in a negotiation.

Watch:

You have to wonder why he is even bothering with the show.

Nikki Haley to Announce for President February 15

Published

on

The Charleston, South Carolina paper The Post & Courier reported Tuesday night that former Governor Nikki Haley will announce her candidacy for presidency at an event in Charleston on February 15. Haley would be the first Republican to challenge President Trump for the Republican nomination. Trump announced his candidacy last November after the mid-term elections.

TGP reported two days ago the chatter about Haley has been growing stronger.

Post and Courier excerpt:

Cementing what has been in the works for months, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will formally announce she is running for president and will seek the Republican nomination for her party’s 2024 ticket, The Post and Courier has learned.

According to an invitation soon going out to her backers, Haley’s advertised “special announcement” will come Feb. 15 at the The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center in downtown Charleston, an open air but covered gathering spot that could draw hundreds of supporters into the heart of the city’s tourism district.

The confirmation she entering the race came from a member of Haley’s inner circle Jan. 31.

End excerpt. Please read complete Post and Courier article at this link.

The AP’s South Carolina based reporter Meg Kinnard confirmed:

AP excerpt:

In South Carolina on Saturday, Trump told WIS-TV that Haley had called him several days earlier to seek his opinion. Trump pointed out her earlier pledge not to run against him but said he made no attempts to stop her.

“She said she would never run against me because I was the greatest president, but people change their opinions, and they change what’s in their hearts,” Trump said. “So I said, if your heart wants to do it, you have to go do it.”

Haley, 51, served as Trump’s U.N. ambassador from 2017 through 2018. She served as South Carolina governor from 2011 until 2017.

Haley appeared on Hannity last week and teased a presidential run, saying a generational shift is needed in politics.

Three days ago Haley posted a reiteration of her call for generational change:

The two leading candidates in both parties, Joe Biden and Donald Trump would be 82 and 78, respectively, on inauguration day January 20, 2025. Biden appears to have dementia while Trump shows no sign of slowing down or aging.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott Calls For Universal School Choice (VIDEO)

Published

on

Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott is calling for universal school choice through the use of education savings accounts, or ESAs.

Democrats oppose school choice because their party is in bed with the teacher unions.

Teacher unions don’t want public schools to have any competition, which is just what is needed to make schools better. When government has a monopoly on education, schools have no incentive to improve.

The Dallas Morning News reports:

Gov. Abbott heats up school voucher debate, calling for ESAs ‘for every child’ in Texas

Gov. Greg Abbott said “every child in the state of Texas” needs access to a voucher-like program that gives parents public dollars to spend on private school tuition or other educational expenses.

Speaking at Annapolis Christian Academy in Corpus Christi on Tuesday night, Abbott said education savings accounts are what Texas needs to give families options. His remarks come as lawmakers push voucher-like bills this legislative session.

“When a school does fall short of excellence, when it strays too far from the fundamentals or simply cannot meet the unique needs of a particular child, parents should not be helpless,” he said. “They should be able to choose the education option that is best for their child.”

The state has already piloted a form of such savings accounts through microgrants made available to select students with disabilities in 2020.

“It’s been so successful,” Abbott said of the program. The state awarded $1,500 grants to more than 65,000 students, according to the Texas Education Agency. “But that program shouldn’t be limited.”

Watch the videos below:

One of the good things that came out of the pandemic, was the increased scrutiny from parents on public schools.

People who are unable to home school should be able to choose where to send their children.
